I Built a Browser-Based PDF Toolkit So You Don’t Need to Install Anything

Builder behind ilovepdfapp.com—a browser-based document toolkit for converting, editing, and managing PDFs. I work on practical web tools, automation, and performance-focused systems that solve everyday problems. Sharing what I learn while building real products.
Most of us don’t think about PDFs until we urgently need to change one.
You receive a document, and suddenly you need to:
convert it to Word
compress it for email
merge multiple files
remove a password
or quickly edit something small
That’s when the usual struggle begins.
Either install heavy software or open random websites filled with popups, limits, and slow processing.
After dealing with this problem repeatedly, I decided to build a simple solution:

The Problem I Wanted to Fix
The issue wasn’t that PDF tools don’t exist.
The issue was usability.
Most tools fall into one of these categories:
Desktop software (powerful but heavy)
Online tools with strict limits
Sites overloaded with ads and redirects
Complicated interfaces for basic tasks
For many users, the requirement is simple:
Upload → Process → Download
So I focused on removing friction rather than adding features.
What the Platform Currently Does
The website provides practical document tools that people actually use daily:
PDF to Word
Word to PDF
Merge PDF
Split PDF
Compress PDF
Rotate PDF
Add password
Remove password
Image to PDF
Everything works directly in the browser without requiring installation.

Design Decisions While Building
While working on the project, I kept three priorities:
1. Speed
Processing should feel immediate. If users wait too long, they leave.
2. Simplicity
No dashboard learning curve. Every tool opens directly.
3. Practicality
Only useful tools. No filler features just to look bigger.
Who This Helps
I noticed the same type of users returning:
Students submitting assignments
Freelancers sending deliverables
Office workers handling reports
Job seekers updating resumes
Most of them don’t want a “PDF suite.”
They just want one task done quickly.
What I’m Working on Next
The current version focuses on core utilities, but the roadmap includes
batch processing
smarter compression
more conversion formats
improved processing stability
My goal is to make it a reliable everyday document toolkit rather than a one-time-use website.
If you work with documents regularly, I’d appreciate feedback from developers and builders here.

I’m especially interested in performance suggestions, UI improvements, and feature ideas.
